The short answer

To make a zombie couple video, add one clear photo of you and one of your partner (or one photo of both of you) and make the Zombie Story effect: in a grey, ruined city the survivor raises a gun at the one who turned, cannot shoot, drops it, and the two of you hug; then it cuts to you laughing together in a golden wheat field. It is the clip behind the zombie girlfriend, zombie boyfriend and zombie husband posts, widescreen and about 12 seconds, ready in a few minutes, and the first video is free (sign-in, no card). You choose who turns: Photo 2 is the zombie.

The zombie trend, made for couples

The AI zombie trend spread on TikTok, Reels and Shorts from late September 2026, and couples carry most of it. The story: your partner has turned into a zombie in a grey, ruined world. You raise a gun but can't shoot, because it is still them. They come closer and you hug, and then it cuts to a warm memory of the two of you. Captions do the rest, from "POV: your boyfriend got bitten" to "my wife if I turned into a zombie."

The Zombie Story effect makes that whole clip from photos of the two of you. There is no app to install, no prompt to write and nothing to edit.

What your AI zombie couple video shows

The two of you are in a grey, ruined city. The one in Photo 1 raises a handgun with shaking hands; the one in Photo 2 walks out of the haze as a zombie, with ashen grey skin, dark veins and torn clothes, and still the same face. A close-up, tears: the trigger is never pulled, the gun drops, and the zombie hugs instead of attacking. Then a hard cut: the two of you as yourselves again, laughing and hugging in a golden wheat field at sunset.

It comes with an emotional cinematic score (piano, strings, wind) and no speech. No shot is fired, and there is no blood or gore.

By default it is widescreen 16:9, 12 seconds and 720p, the trend format. In the options you can pick 5 to 15 seconds, vertical 9:16 or square 1:1, and 480p. It is ready in a few minutes.

Zombie girlfriend, zombie boyfriend, zombie husband

Most of the couple posts are the same clip with a different person turning and a different caption:

  • Zombie girlfriend and zombie boyfriend clips are usually played half as a joke and half as a sweet "I'd still pick you."
  • Husband turns into a zombie posts lean into the wedding-vow angle: "in sickness and in health."
  • Wife turns into a zombie posts are often the reply to the husband one.

You choose which of you turns: the person in Photo 2. Make one each way and post them as a pair.

Caption ideas for couples

  • "POV: you turned and I couldn't shoot."
  • "In sickness, in health, and in the apocalypse."
  • "Zombie or not, still my person."
  • "He said he'd survive the apocalypse. He did not."
  • "Year 5. Still choosing you."

Photo tips for two people

Two photos or one? Both work.

  • Two separate photos give each face its own frame, which usually means a sharper, more recognisable face, and you set who turns by which slot you use. Use two upper-body shots at about the same size and distance.
  • One photo of both of you is quicker and keeps how you really stand together. The person on the left holds the gun and the person on the right turns. Choose one where both faces are clear, roughly the same size, and neither of you is turned away.

Light and angle. Front-facing, evenly lit photos work best. Avoid sunglasses, hats that shade the eyes, and heavy filters: the eyes and skin are what change, so they need to be visible.

How to make it

  1. Add a photo of each of you (Photo 1 holds the gun, Photo 2 turns), or one photo of both.
  2. Keep Zombie Story selected; open the options only if you want a different length or format.
  3. Sign in and make it. During launch your first zombie video is free, no card needed, enough for the default 12 seconds at 720p, and a failed render is refunded.

If you want, add a real photo of the two of you at the end, or your song, in CapCut or the TikTok editor. The clip already has its own memory scene, so this is optional.

FAQ

Zombie couple video: questions

  • Add a clear photo of you and one of her, or one photo of the two of you, keep Zombie Story selected and make it. Whoever is in Photo 1 holds the gun and whoever is in Photo 2 has turned; the gun drops, you hug, and the clip ends on a memory of you two. It works the same for a boyfriend, husband or wife.

  • Yes, the full version of it: the survivor raising a gun and not shooting, the zombie hugging instead of attacking, and a cut to a happy memory of the two of you, in one widescreen clip of about 12 seconds.

  • Yes. Put his photo in Photo 2 and yours in Photo 1, and he turns while you hold the gun. Swap them for the reply video, "when I turned and you stayed." With one photo of both of you, the person on the right turns.

  • Either works. Two separate photos usually give the sharpest faces and let you set who turns exactly. One photo of both is easier and keeps how you really stand together; the person on the left holds the gun and the person on the right turns.

  • Keep it short and let the clip do the work. Ideas: "POV: you turned and I could not shoot." "In sickness, in health, and in the apocalypse." "Zombie or not, still my person." "Year 5. Still choosing you."

  • Yes. There is no blood or gore and no shot is fired, and it ends on a happy memory of the two of you, so it works as a sweet anniversary post as well as a Halloween one. You can also add a photo from your first date at the end in an editor.

  • Yes, in TikTok, Reels or your editor when you post. The clip comes with its own emotional score (piano, strings, wind, no speech), and there is no official song for the trend, so your own song is fine.

  • Yes. Only use photos of people who agreed to be in the video. With a partner that is usually a quick question, and they will probably want to choose whether they hold the gun or turn.
